About SplatDrop
SplatDrop is a free online tool that turns a single image into a 3D Gaussian Splat (.ply), plus a free in-browser Gaussian Splat viewer. Upload one photo and get a downloadable Gaussian Splat in about 15 seconds — no GPU, no install, no signup. It is an independent product built on the open-source TripoSplat model by VAST-AI / TripoAI, running on fal.ai. Not affiliated with VAST-AI / TripoAI.
What SplatDrop does
- Generator: the image to Gaussian Splat generator takes one JPG, PNG, or WebP and returns a Gaussian Splat
.plyyou can preview and download. - Viewer: the Gaussian Splat viewer opens a
.plyor.splatand renders it in 3D entirely in your browser — your file never leaves your device.
How SplatDrop is different
Most 3D capture tools need many photos or a video walkthrough. SplatDrop is built for the single-image, single-object case: one clear photo of a product, prop, or character becomes a downloadable splat. It is free, runs in the browser with no CUDA setup, and outputs a standard Gaussian Splat .ply (up to 262,144 Gaussians) that opens in common splat viewers and engine plugins.
What it is built on
SplatDrop runs the open-source TripoSplat model from VAST-AI / TripoAI on the hosted fal.ai API. TripoSplat's code and weights are MIT-licensed. SplatDrop is an independent product and is not operated by or affiliated with VAST-AI / TripoAI; licensing and attribution details are on the privacy notice.
What "Gaussian Splat" means
SplatDrop works with 3D Gaussian Splatting — a radiance-field technique that represents a 3D object or scene as a cloud of colored 3D Gaussians, stored as a .ply or .splat file. SplatDrop is a 3D graphics tool in this space: it generates and displays Gaussian Splats, and is unrelated to any similarly named software outside 3D graphics.
