What is TripoSplat?

TripoSplat is an open-source model from VAST-AI / TripoAI (research) that turns a single 2D image into a 3D Gaussian Splat. SplatDrop runs it on the hosted fal.ai API so you can upload an image, get a .ply result, inspect it in a WebGL splat viewer, and download it — no GPU or setup required.

Input: one JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
Output: one Gaussian Splat .ply file.

How to use SplatDrop

Pick a good input image. A single, clearly lit subject on a plain background works best. Avoid motion blur, heavy occlusion, transparency, and reflective surfaces.
Upload and enter email. Email is required before conversion so we can control daily quota and contact people who want more conversion access.
Convert with TripoSplat. The Vercel API route sends the image to fal.ai, requests output_format: ply, and waits for the hosted TripoSplat run.
Preview the Gaussian Splat. When the result is ready, the page loads the .ply into a WebGL splat viewer with orbit controls for rotate and zoom.
Download the file. Use the download button to keep the .ply result, or use the online viewer link if your browser cannot render the preview.

Troubleshooting and known limitations

Conversion limit reached: this public MVP caps per-IP and global daily conversions to protect the fal.ai budget.
Blobby or hollow result: try a cleaner input image with one subject and stronger separation from the background.
Preview will not render: update your browser, enable WebGL2, download the .ply, or use the linked external splat viewer.
Need more runs: use the waitlist below. Real accounts and paid quota belong in the next starter-kit phase.
