What is TripoSplat?
TripoSplat is an open-source model from VAST-AI / TripoAI that turns a single 2D image into a 3D Gaussian Splat. This page wraps the hosted fal.ai API so you can upload an image, get a .ply result, inspect it in a WebGL splat viewer, and download it without setting up a GPU.

- Output: one Gaussian Splat
.plyfile. - Processing: powered by TripoSplat (VAST-AI) via fal.ai.
- License: the official repository is published under MIT; see the GitHub repo. Generated outputs, model weights, fal.ai terms, and third-party viewers may have their own terms.
How to use SplatDrop
- Pick a good input image. A single, clearly lit subject on a plain background works best. Avoid motion blur, heavy occlusion, transparency, and reflective surfaces.
- Upload and enter email. Email is required before conversion so we can control daily quota and contact people who want more conversion access.
- Convert with TripoSplat. The Vercel API route sends the image to fal.ai, requests
output_format: ply, and waits for the hosted TripoSplat run. - Preview the Gaussian Splat. When the result is ready, the page loads the
.plyinto a WebGL splat viewer with orbit controls for rotate and zoom. - Download the file. Use the download button to keep the
.plyresult, or use the online viewer link if your browser cannot render the preview.
Troubleshooting and known limitations
- Conversion limit reached: this public MVP caps per-IP and global daily conversions to protect the fal.ai budget.
- Blobby or hollow result: try a cleaner input image with one subject and stronger separation from the background.
- Preview will not render: update your browser, enable WebGL2, download the
.ply, or use the linked external splat viewer. - Need more runs: use the waitlist below. Real accounts and paid quota belong in the next starter-kit phase.

- No. SplatDrop is an unofficial tool. TripoSplat is by VAST-AI / TripoAI, and the hosted conversion is powered via fal.ai.
- What output do I get?
- A Gaussian Splat
.plyfile. This MVP does not promise other 3D file formats. - Who handles the image I upload?
- The browser sends your image to this site's Vercel API route, which sends it to fal.ai / TripoSplat for processing. This site does not keep the original image long term.
- Why is email required?
- Email lets us prevent anonymous cost abuse, keep a lightweight audience list, and invite users who need more conversion capacity.
